Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I may collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Please note, for the most part I disable comments, because I am a one person operation and all of the above? That’s a lot of work for one person. Any commenting is left to third party sites such as social media sites and their policies actually apply and I advise you to seek their policies on what they do with your information if you have any concerns before posting (honestly, a good rule of thumb for life anyway).

Media

Visitors will not be uploading any media to this website. It’s disabled for many reasons. Privacy policies for uploading media for external sites like Facebook, Instagram etc can be found on those sites.  I have as much control over what they do as you do. If I operate any groups within my Facebook page, the privacy policy for those pages will be posted within the rules of that site. Since we are talking about images— be respectful of the ownership of the photos on this site- you and I both know I own them. Legally and morally, taking the images from this site and using them for your own? That’s stealing.

Cookies

If you visit this site’s login page, the site will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.  Payment information is handled by payment processors. Not me. I 100% prefer not to hold onto your credit card or other sensitive financial details on my site for obvious security reasons.  (I work in web all day long, I know the risks!)

When you log in, these services may set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.  At least this is what I have been told on how long all of these last – so I am sharing the best of my knowledge.

Embedded content from other websites

I will blog eventually- and link to recommendations including paid affiliate links. This is a common practice and I will strive to be as transparent as possible in what I am doing.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behave in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who I share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. I do not sell your information to any third parties.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If you have been paying attention, this is one of the biggest reasons I will not be allowing commenting. Social media platforms are a different case- you are on your own there but I do reserve the right to moderate commenting on my own social media profiles.  No rough housing and causing ruckus out there, everyone!

For users that register on this website for purchases or for mailing lists, I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time either through their accounts used for purchases on this website or through my email mailing list management. I am currently the only website administrator but if I opt to get an assistant in the future or expand my staff in the future, there is the possibility that website administrators would also have access to that data.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Your data is obviously sent to third parties to process payment and shipment. Other than that, as previously stated, I do not sell or send your information to third parties.
