Click images for closer views. I first began throwing in undergrad at Ohio Northern University in the 90s. I recently rediscovered it after finding that working with clay helped me deal with the arthritis in my hands. I would definitely classify myself as an amateur, but I have always found that throwing, trimming, and all things ceramics are a great source of mental and physical centering – so the practice is as important to me as the ability to see something be created by my own hands.

Blueberry Vase
Blue Purple brushed on in vertical stripes outside (about two layers) Opulence Cornflower blue satin inside
Soft Sunset Belly Vase
Blue Topaz on the bottom half and inside. Middle band of Papaya overlapping with top band of Parakeet yellow.
Jelly Gradient Ruffle Vase
Why Jelly? because in certain lights there is a purply, grape jelly color that is unexpected and fun. Bottom 2/3 has 3x black gloss. Top 2/3 is 2x Sunrise Shino- overlapping in middle.

Pink Ruffled Vase
Fairy Rose over a layer of pudding thick Honey Flux. A layer of Archies Base around the top.
Ice Blue Lidded Vessel
Ice Blue with Turquoise Lake on the Bottom- and a tiny bit of Turquoise Lake on the knob as well.
Summer Surf Mug
First one with this combo - Summer Peach inside and top, Cerulean Satin on bottom, Iceblue in middle band, two light coats, overlapping a bit over the other two.
Pink Papaya Mug
Alabaster Satin on the bottom - with Papaya, Fairy Rose and a rim ring of Rhubarb
Green Carved Vase
Coyote Black underglaze on greenware - relief areas then carved a bit for contrast. 2x Gun Metal Green over.

Summer Surf Smooth Vase
Second piece in the summer surf combo - and only smooth one. Cerulean Satin on bottom, Summer Peach inside and on top, Ice Blue in middle. I was a little heavier in my Ice Blue application. It definitely shows. It taught me the importance of notes! this works best with two layers of Ice Blue.

Lemon Cream Satin inside. Hydra Scale outside. Autumn Spice on the Rim (wish I would have used Ancient Iron)
Reaction Globe vase
I decided to try the combo from the Reaction Vase again - on this little globe. Cerulean Blue on bottom, Papaya in middle, Frosted Topaz at top and inside. Magenta sky trail where Frosted Topaz and Papaya overlapped. I came so close to needing to grind the bottom.....
Blue Lava Stemless Goblet
only glazed this halfway down. Autumn spice on rim, Azure blue in band in middle, azure blue in bowl. I think I put some extra Azure blue on impulsively since the piece "had room to run". it Showed me for sure - result is pretty though!

Narrowed Neck Blue and Green Vase
Azure Dreams on top half, Gun Metal Green on bottom. Yes, I trusted my application enough to put Gun Metal Green on the bottom half. No, I didn't put a lot (two coats). Close ups of this piece are so much better than this shot- it is really hard to take pictures of this piece!

Third piece in the summer surf combo - Cerulean Satin on bottom, Summer Peach inside and on top, Ice Blue in middle, two layers, overlapping both. Messy application of the Ice Blue so it can get the watercolor effect shown.

Green Comfort Cup
Aries outside and Apricot inside. Most recent piece with Aries. I felt like I put SO MUCH GLAZE on this piece and it finally got closer to what I expected to get results wise. (hey, it's green at least!). Interesting variation in application with this one.
Sandy Surf Vase
Top is Ice Blue, overlapped over Light Gold - the overlap is greener than I expected (although, let's face it, that tracks with color theory!)
Small Winter Bowl
Sand and Sea Bowl
Cerulean Satin and Ice Blue - very little overlap on outside. Inside is Light Gold with Ice Blue trails around rim. Linked to more pictures
Reaction Taller Vase
Slight variation on the Reaction combo - Cerulean Satin on bottom, Papaya in middle, Hydra scale on top with Gun Metal Green trails and Orange Gloss inside. I really should have tested this new pint of Cerulean, it went on thin and did not have good coverage.
Green Vase Ridged
Third piece I made with Seafoam Satin and Gun Metal Green. Honestly, I wish I had gone a bit heavier with the GMG. This is probably two and a half coats.

Second piece in the Black Gloss and Autumn Spice combination. This worked really well - I left space where there was just Autumn Spice on bare clay as well as overlap.
Ice Blue Bulb Vase
Only Ice blue on the outside- the differences in color are due to my brushed application.
Rolled Rim Vase
2 coats of Archies with two coats of a thin pint of Eggplant - probably should have done a test tile of the eggplant first.
Black Spice Mug
Third piece in the black gloss and Autumn Spice combo - this one I have down now (until I don't...which stay tuned, I'm sure lol)
Phoenix Ramen Bowl
Coral Vase
Papaya and Coral Satin. There is only a line of overlap. Papaya was not applied as thick as you would think to get the drips- it just really wanted to run again. I am glad I gave it room.
Frosted Blue Globe Vase
Frosted Topaz on bottom, Blue Purple on top, inside is Azure Dreams--with a bit of both blue purple and azure dreams --- which I want to play with in combination again. I need to figure out what got that lovely turquoise- if that was lighter or heavier blue purple.
